Weekend Box Office Estimates for September 6-8, 2013: "Riddick" Dominates
Vin Diesel's Riddick, the third installment in the sci-fi franchise, easily won the weekend box office race, earning an estimated $18.7 million, which was almost double that of its closet competitor, Lee Daniels' The Butler, which captured second place with an estimated $8.9 million. The little movie that could, Instructions not Included, continued its impressive box office run by adding slightly more than $8 million in its second weekend. Fourth place belongs to We're the Millers, which has held up well after five weeks of release and earned nearly $8 million over the three day frame. Since its debut, We're the Millers has earned almost $125 million. Finally, Disney's Planes flew into fifth place, with just over $4 million.
