Mort Walker, who created the comic strips Beetle Bailey and Hi and Lois, turns 90 years old today. Walker continues to have an active role in the daily production of his comics, which helps to explain the strong degree of continuity and overall quality of the aforementioned strips. Beetle Bailey was one of the first comic strips I was introduced to as a child growing up in the 1970s and I still read the comic today. I cannot say the same for Hi and Lois, which I only began reading about a decade ago, but it has become one of my favorites as well.
Happy Birthday Mort Walker and thank you for making me smile for so many years!
